About Pulmonologists:
A Pulmonologist, also known as a Pulmonary Specialist, has additional medical training in the respiratory system. To become certified in the subspecialty of Pulmonary Disease, physicians must have been previously certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. They must satisfactorily complete the requisite graduate medical education fellowship training and have demonstrated clinical competence in the care of patients. They must meet the licensure and procedural requirements and pass the Certification Exam in Pulmonary Disease.
