Outpatient: Sleep Medicine Consultations, Treatment and Follow-up

About Sleep Medicine Specialists:
To become certified in the subspecialty of sleep medicine, physicians must have been previously certified in internal medicine by ABIM and maintain a current underlying certificate in either internal medicine or an ABIM subspecialty. They must satisfactorily complete the requisite graduate medical education fellowship training and demonstrate clinical competence in the care of patients. They must meet the licensure and procedural requirements and pass the Certification Exam in Sleep Medicine.

About Sleep Medicine Health Concerns:

According to the National Sleep Association, most people with sleep disorders are undiagnosed and untreated. Fewer than one in five Americans with sleep apnea are diagnosed, and the rates of diagnosis for insomnia and restless leg syndrome are even lower. There are several different tests that our Sleep Medicine Specialists use to diagnose a sleep health problem. This includes a polysomnogram, which is an overnight study that takes place in a designated sleep lab. Once a diagnosis is made, our Sleep Medicine Specialists design a treatment plan and work with patients to increase their overall sleep health.
